Cosmoscopic

Cosmoscopic explores the shifting threshold between interior and exterior, how individual phenomena remain distinct while existing in continual relation to one another. Within the installation space, suspended cellulose rice paper flecks form a dynamic field of material relationships. Animated by light and shadow, a floor fan set the delicate forms in motion. Projected light refracts through their translucent surfaces, revealing a spectrum of jewel-like colour and illuminating the specificity of each fleck in proximity to others. A projected image of a pigment-encapsulating membrane merges with the concrete wall, where lines, cracks and crevices suggest tension, movement and the fragile margins of a permeable skin. Shadows punctuate the space, creating shifting apertures that evoke the possibility of passage between an implied inside and outside. Inviting an embodied rather than purely intellectual encounter, simultaneously intimate and expansive, subtle movements resonate like ripples across surface of the skin.
